Let's talk about sex.

A few weeks ago, I received an invitation to Sex Week 2008.  The College Feminists said that it's going to be "bigger, better, and ballsier" than last year's Sex Week.  I wish I could give you a definition for "ballsier," but I haven't the faintest clue as to what it means to be "ballsie."  They also said to expect "participation from the PORN industry" (their emphasis, not mine), "your favorite NU professors" (I must have missed the survey), a fashion show showcasing your idea of 'What is Sexy' (tagline: show me yours, I'll show you mine), "TROJAN brand condoms" (thank goodness they aren't handing out GENERIC condoms), "movies" (this ain't your average chick flick), "BIG NAME GUESTS" (I'm pretty sure I heard that one of them is a columnist for The Onion)...and much, much more!"

To tell you the truth, I was quite surprised to receive an invitation to the events this year, seeing as how the College Feminists have deemed me the queen bee of the anti-feminist movement at Northwestern.  Last year, when I heard about the first-ever Sex Week at NU, I caused quite a stir on campus by starting my own women's organization and planning a free spa night for those women who weren't interested in attending the Pure Romance sex toy party put on by the College Feminists.  Afterwards, the Fems invited me to one of their meetings so that we could have an "open-minded discussion."  During that meeting, the same argument came up again and again.  Whether we were talking about sex toy parties, masturbation, pornography, or crude sexual terms, they always had the same answer:

"If men do it, then we should too."

I will never understand this mindset, and I will never understand how women have come so far only to slip back into pre-feminist oblivion.  These ladies are so consumed with the idea of equality, that they have forgotten about what the early feminists fought so hard against.  Gone are the days when we women fell victim to men. In today's day in age, we have fallen victim to ourselves.  By engaging in these Sex Week events, we are only reaffirming the idea that we are sexual objects ready for the taking.

I firmly believe that each and every woman is a woman of worth and of value and that we must fight to preserve our womanhood.  After all, that's the "ballsier" thing to do.
